To Premier Berejiklian and all members of the NSW State Government.

We urge you to protect and retain our modest alcohol laws which are keeping Sydney streets safe from alcohol-fuelled violence.

These modest alcohol restrictions have proven to be successful in reducing assaults, deaths and injuries on our streets.

Kings Cross has seen a 59.2% decrease in assaults between 6pm and 1.30am and a staggering 93.9% per cent decrease between 3am and 6am. In Sydney CBD assaults have fallen by 20.2%.

And serious injuries resulting from alcohol-related violence have also been significantly reduced – St Vincent’s Hospital saw a 24.8% reduction of seriously injured patients during high alcohol period and the number of patients admitted with serious head injuries was reduced by 50% between 8pm and 8am.

The laws are working. They are saving lives. We can’t afford to lose them.

Please, don’t put our lives at risk – keep our modest alcohol laws in place.
